Steaming Artificial Flowers and Garlands

Artificial florals made with a combination of silk and plastic are the ideal candidate for steaming. Steaming is done to soften the petals and leaves, giving them a more natural look.

Follow the instructions below to steam your artificial flowers and garlands.

To steam:

Boil a medium pot of water on the stove.

Once boiling, carefully hold the florals above the pot, in the steam.

Hold until the leaves or petals have released some stiffness. Lightly shake. Garlands will appear more bouncy, and flowers will be more mailable and look more natural.

Be cautious not to steam for too long (more than 5-10 seconds) as the glue will slowly release as well. Do not touch the floral to the water, pot or stove. Wear heat resistant gloves to protect your hands.
